Nagoya Protocol
The Access and Benefit-Sharing Clearing-House (ABS Clearing-House) is a platform containing information on access to, and the sharing of benefits arising from the utilization of genetic resources. Researchers can use the site to check whether there are specific legal requirements for collecting or using a genetic resource.
Researchers can also consult the country profiles on the ABS Clearing-House for information on potential conditions that apply in European Member States.
Note that the ABS Focal Point of each country is solely responsible for information regarding ABS. Other permits may be required (e.g., for collecting species/samples in protected areas, for working with local communities, etc.) as well as export permits and research permits. The ABS Focal Point may not be aware of these, and they may be handled by other government departments. There is rarely a single point of information.
